The Bolster Project is an initiative supported by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The goal of the Bolster Project is to evaluate the delivery of an app intervention that supports caregivers of young adults with early psychosis. This app is designed to help caregivers improve their communication and coping skills, facilitate treatment-seeking, and expand knowledge of mental illnesses and their treatments.
We are looking for participants who:
-
Are over 18,
-
Own an iPhone, and
-
Care for a young adult (age 15-30) who is at risk for or experiencing symptoms of psychosis.
Participants will:
-
Download and use the Bolster mobile app for 12 weeks.
-
Complete a set of surveys (about 30-45 minutes each) about caregiving, stress levels, and knowledge of mental illnesses two times: when you start the trial, and at the end (after 4 weeks).
-
Complete brief surveys about your experience with the mobile app every two weeks (1-2 minutes each)
-
Complete additional surveys at the end of the study to provide feedback about the Bolster app and the mHSS.
Participants who complete all study procedures will receive $120 in the form of Tango gift cards, paid in two increments during the study period.
